Pubic Area
Pregnancy and childbirth is the most wonderful event a women can experience. But the physical impact upon a woman’s body is great. Childbirth, hormonal changes and aging has its impact upon a woman’s anatomy. Stretch marks and subcutaneous fatty tissue changes occur in the lower abdomen, groin, and Mons Pubis. In many cases after vaginal births, the vagina and genitalia are distended, the pelvic floor excessively relaxed, and sexual sensitivity limited.
Hormonal changes, physiological aging, weight gain, and childbirth usually affects distribution of the Mons Pubis fat pad. As a result, the enlarged Mons Pubis can be aesthetically undesirable for some women. Many women are bothered by an increase in the fat pad of this area because it can be seen under tight clothing or a bathing suit. Smartlipo™ fat melting is an excellent method of meeting the aesthetic needs of our patients who are interested in improvement in this area.
While not all patients are suitable candidates for this procedure, a reduction in abdominal pelvic fat layer that extends from the lower abdomen to the Mons Pubis is possible by laser assisted lipolysis liposuction with Smartlipo™. Results will vary from patient to patient, but most patients are happy to reduce the bulge in the lower abdominal/pelvic area.
SIDE EFFECTS, COMPLICATIONS, AND ALTERNATIVE APPROACHES
As with any surgery, a surgeon or patient can’t predict what may happen during or after surgery. Rare problems that can occur are insertion site scarring, keloids, post inflammatory hyperpigmentation of insertion scars, nodularity, skin irregularities, waviness of skin, localized tenderness, hyperesthesia, poor skin retraction, hematomas, seromas, and localized and systemic infection. Care must be taken so excessive liposuction of pubic area fat does not occur. Too much fat removed may result in the area being so deficient in fat that normal sexual intercourse becomes uncomfortable.
